13 Oct Our Mims Retirement Haven Open House
Open House at Our Mims Retirement Haven
Paris, KY – Our Mims Retirement Haven invites you to their very first open house on Saturday, October 17th from noon until 3pm. Come to the farm at 2810 Millersburg Ruddles Mill Rd just outside of Paris, Kentucky to view the grounds and meet the Ladies and Gents of OMRH.
At 2pm, there will be a demonstration of how Mares-terpieces are created. The Haven’s mascot, mini-horse Tea Biscuit, will present his arty talent. One of the Thoroughbreds will also create a painting.
Our Mims Retirement Haven, declared a non-profit on March 8, 2007, is home to 1997 Breeders’ Cup™ Sprint Winner Elmhurst. The gelding, grandson of namesake Our Mims, has been at the Haven since October 3rd, 2011. With the 2015 Breeders’ Cup™ at Keeneland, this is an excellent chance to see the retired Champion before the next Sprint winner is determined.
Farm owner Jeanne Mirabito will be on hand to talk about the Haven, its history, and its plans for the future. The equine cemetery and memorial garden will be open for visitors to walk through.
Also at the Haven is Blue Viking, Missy White Oak, Ms. Royal Flagship, Trail Guide, Dogwood Patty, Braggin Rights, Exciting Bucket, and Jo Jo’s Gypsy. Jo Jo has become quite a social media sensation; the story of her seemingly miraculous recovery from near-starvation and loving relationship with Jeanne’s granddaughter Kaylee Brooke have been viewed almost a million times from the Haven’s Facebook page. Visitors will also be able to meet the Haven’s latest Lady, Play Book.
