My Heart Sez Yes arrived at The Haven on September 19, 2019.

My Heart Sez Yes is quiet and well mannered. Her demeanor is purposefully displayed so no one will mistake her for a hoodlum. We get the feeling it's important to her that the rest of us understand she knows how to behave. Oh, she's not above kicking up her heels with a good romp with her friends but when the bi-peds are present, she displays her manners.

About

'Saucey', as we call her, is a gorgeous dark bay with a striking blaze. She raced 42 times and was in the money on 29 of those starts, earning just shy of $300,000. In her broodmare career, she produced 9 babies by sires any mare would love to go to - such as Distorted Humor, Awesome Again and Lemon Drop Kid.

Saucey came to OMRH in September of 2019, the same day Theheartofdixie arrived. It was an exciting day at The Haven for all of the Ladies. Saucey had been placed on our waiting list by Stacy Ferris, and when there was an opening Saucey came up from Florida and was welcomed 'home'. Saucey is pretty quiet and well-mannered most of the time, and can be spotted by her tongue sticking out of her mouth, like a puppy! We've been asked if that bothers her - and no, it sure doesn't!

Stacy Ferris is a long-time horse woman and has horses of her own. She met "Saucey" when she became her groom and a bond was formed. Stacy continued to follow Saucey's career even when life took them separate ways. As the years went on, she did her best to keep up with where Saucey was. When she ended up in a not so good situation, Stacy did everything she could to find a good place for her. Unfortunately, Florida's climate was not ideal for Saucey and Stacy knew a colder one would suit her better - so she was welcomed into the Haven. (Stacy is also the reason The Haven got to have many years with Missy White Oak).

To say Stacy loves Saucey is hard to put into words. But Stacy LOVES Saucey. She is always sending Ann little stories of her and pictures of her in her racing days, and she has always had some spunk about her. She liked to circle in the paddock on two legs as she loved kicking up her heels. But the paddock wasn't the only place - she was fond of trying to dump her jockey at the gate, in the gate, or approaching the Winner's Circle. Her 'attitude' is what made her successful on the track.

Saucey didn't try too hard to bond and get a BFF in the beginning - she didn't really care. But once Ruby arrived, Saucey found a friend. She can be strong-willed, while being a quiet lady, but that is what makes her 'HER', and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Our Mims Retirement Haven is very grateful and blessed that owners like Stacy trust us with their beloved ladies. Stacy sends supplements to Saucey each month and she gets to see her through the videos Ann posts, and the pictures too. She knows Saucey is in great hands.
