Dixie is best described as a proper southern bell. If you have never met a southern woman, you should be warned that doesn't mean she will bow to your will. She won't. You just won't see your very deserved reprimand coming. Mind your manners. Treat her like a lady and you will likely be okay. Probably....
About
'Dixie' is our Southern Belle, and one of the newer ladies. She's a beauty that came to us in September of 2019.
Dixie has 13 races under her belt and was in the money 6 of those times. She's delivered 9 bouncing bundles of joy, and some by some top sires such as Devil His Due, Bowman's Band, Pure Prize and Stephen Got Even.
Dixie's former owners love her dearly and had placed her on our waiting list. When there was an opening, Dixie was called up and her owners brought her from Louisiana. We were told she could be a bit of a firecracker and doesn't always get along with others in her field, but she settled right in and there hasn't been any problem.
As with herd dynamics, things are always changing. And Dixie is behind one of those changes. Early on, Sweets was Katie's right hand and enforcer, but she's been toppled by Dixie, who now proudly wears that title. It wasn't much of challenge though, because Sweets is a very laid-back lady, and doesn’t really care who the enforcer is - as long as the herd has one.
With differing personalities, the ladies also have different tastes in what they like or dislike. Dixie loves her treats, but doesn't care for carrots. She just can't do it! And obviously her BFF is Katie. As Southern Belles do, Dixie makes sure everyone minds their manners and adheres to Katie's demands for the herd.
