Play Book arrived at Our Mims Retirement Haven September 1, 2015.

Play Book delights in her honed talents of destruction and sneaky behavior. It's not unusual for"Bookie" to guide a human friend to her target area and proudly dismantle a fence or tear apart a blanket or halter. "look what I can do!" Isn't she special?

About

Fondly referred to as 'Bookie', which is perfectly fitting, because as with any 'Bookie', you are always taking your chances.

Bookie is a Maryland-bred firecracker! A beautiful bay in a plain brown wrapper.... but there is NOTHING plain about our girl. She may be small, but she makes a big impact. To say she carries a 'big stick' is an understatement.

Bookie ran 29 times and was in the money 11 of those tries. Then she went on to have 3 foals. She is truly our ornery little pistol, and a destructive one at that! She likes to show Ann Cheek her treasured work, which is usually a busted fence, a broken stall door, her lost halter or ripped blanket - and she's PROUD of what she's done.

She lacks NOTHING in the personality department, and she's our 'Rogue' mare. She simply doesn't care. Herd rules? They don't apply to her. Herd etiquette? There is none as far as she's concerned. Ladies standing in a group visiting with each other? Bookie walks through the middle of them and doesn't bat an eye. Her favorite game is circling the barn a few times so Ann can't catch her to put her in her stall for her meal. If she can get another one of the ladies to go with her, she will happily go to the farthest corner of the farm when Ann starts calling for them. Seriously, NOTHING bothers her. NOTHING. She walks to the beat of a different drummer and she loves being unique. Some of her antics are so funny, that it is hard to get mad at her. Maybe 'Rogue Clown' is more fitting. The smallest girl, but possibly has the biggest personality of the herd.

Bookie loves getting her belly scratched and makes sure you know just the spot. If she could talk, or point, she would tell you EXACTLY where to scratch to make her happy. And if you are giving attention to another one of the ladies when Bookie is close by, she will try to separate you by walking between you and the other mare. It doesn't matter if the other mare is literally standing toe to toe with you, Bookie will plow through and one of you will back up and make room for her! She might not even want attention at the time, she just enjoys being able to do what she wants, when she wants.

Play Book's wall says it all, "Every Day Brings a New Adventure".
