11 Jul Obituary: Timeless Sue
Timeless Sue has died at Our Mims Retirement Haven in Paris, Kentucky. The 33-year-old mare by Timeless Moment out of Strella was found in the paddock by Haven farm manager Jeanne Mirabito early Wednesday (11 July 2012) morning.
“This is so unexpected,” said Mirabito. “Sue danced out of the barn last night. She looked happy, healthy, and young despite her age. We found her in Our Mims’ favorite grazing spot. It looks like she just laid down and died.” Mirabito added: “Bless her heart. She worried so much as I grieved for Iza Valentine, watching [Iza] just fade. I guess she decided she wouldn’t do that to me.”
Timeless Sue had eight foals, most notable is Timeless Girl (by Storm Boot), dam of Bourbon Belle, winner of over $1.15 million dollars in forty starts. Not Bourbon, out of Bourbon Belle, was a winner of over $1 million in fifteen starts and finished first in the Queen’s Plate Stakes in 2008. Timeless Sue herself earned just over $100,000 in her racing career. She arrived at Our Mims Retirement Haven in March of 2005. Her 33rd birthday was celebrated this past April 26th with a carrot cake at the Haven. Timeless Sue was buried in the Haven cemetery on the afternoon of her death.
