Volunteers are very important at the Haven. Volunteers care for the Ladies and Elmhurst, interact with visitors and staff, work independently, and allow Jeanne to attend to things off the farm.

Volunteers learn about the nutritional and physical needs of the elder equine. They can help with education classes and participate in outreach activities. Volunteers have fun!

Previous experience working with horses is not necessary but a general love of horses is recommended. A desire to learn and work enthusiastically is needed. Being able to show up when scheduled and be physically able to finish assigned chores is demanded.

All volunteers are personally trained by Jeanne Mirabito, Farm Owner and President of the Haven. Chores can include feeding, grooming, holding horses while being attended by a vet or farrier. Opportunities for general labor work are available, too: mowing, mending fences and stalls, barn maintenance. That is, if you want to work, Jeanne will probably find something for you to do!

If all this sounds good to you, download and fill out the Volunteer Application. Guidelines and further information is provided on the application form.

Please mail your completed application to: Our Mims Retirement Haven, 2810 Millersburg Ruddles Mill Rd, Paris, KY 40361. This address is also provided on the form.
